It doesn't always have to be frozen pizza! Even without a pizza oven, the crispy base can succeed well. In this course, we will prep a delicious pizza base which forms the basis for our favorite toppings, and is easy to handle at home! We will discuss tips and tricks for using the home oven and let creativity run free when topping the pizzas. The base for our toppings will be our homemade pizza sauce. This course is also suitable for young pizza bakers who participate with their parents.
Shopping list for dough and pizza sauce (for 2 large pizzas)
500g "pizza flour" or wheat flour (type 405)
1 yeast cube (fresh yeast) (alternatively dry yeast)
4 tablespoons olive oil
300g fresh tomatoes
50g dried tomatoes (dried or in oil)
1 tube tomato paste
1 clove of garlic
salt, pepper, chili powder, Italian herb mix or oregano
confectioners (powdered) sugar
We top the pizzas according to our own preferences. As topping I recommend:
400-600g of cheese (mozzarella, emmental, pizza cheese...) or cheese substitute (vegan recommendation: SimplyV Reibegenuss).
5-10 medium-sized fresh tomatoes
1 bunch of fresh basil
other vegetables according to taste, e.g. zucchini, eggplant or spinach
Requirements: Oven with convection or top/bottom heat min. 200 degrees Celsius, rolling pin
Note: The toppings for the pizzas should be prepared before the start of the course. Please wash and slice tomatoes and other vegetables. Please wash and slice other vegetables, steam or defrost them if necessary, and prepare all other toppings.
If you are attending the course with (small) children, you can already dice the other ingredients for the pizza sauce (onion, fresh tomatoes, garlic). There won't be any more knives used in the remainder of the course.
